THE BOOK BUS

VIDEO, BRANDING, STORYBOARDING

During my summer internship at the Upstream 360 product communication agency during the summer of 2024, I worked as the graphic design intern and collaborated with a team of 3 other interns who specialized in writing, video production, and project management to create a custom project that the agency could use for marketing. We chose to find a community client. We reached out to The Book Bus in Cincinnati, Ohio to help their mission of improving children’s literacy with new books in low-income areas.

We delivered a promotional video for the client to share their message and ways to get involved with the organization as well as a two-sided mailer for the client to send to potential donors in the community.

PROCESS

INTERNAL IDEATION

Because of the pro-bono nature of this project, we first had to figure out what The Book Bus might need from us before we presented them with ideas. We analyzed their social media and website to figure out what marketing materials the client was missing. I illustrated storyboards and concepts that were brought up in our discussion to get quick visuals of our ideas as our team brainstormed potential directions.

NON-PROFIT MAILER

DELIVERABLES

Alongside the video, I designed and illustrated a postcard mailer to be sent to potential donors in the community alongside a letter written by the owner of the organization. Our team gathered our collective story into a blog post where I created the graphics for the blog. Check it out to see the whole' team’s story!

CLIENT IDEATION

We then hosted our client for an ideation session where we brainstormed different ways that our team could benefit their organization. I illustrated ideas brought up by the client in real time and we discussed and made notes of the pros and cons of each to help us narrow down our deliverables.
